Mike Pomasl Memorial Golf Outing

The family of Michael Pomasl started this outing in 2012 as a way to honor his wish that his family find a way to do something special for the Pickerel Rescue Squad. Through the hard work of the Pomasl family and numerous community members and businesses, this event has grown tremendously. In the first 12 years, this outing has generated over $325k in donations!

2024 MPMGO

Zoll Autopulse Automated CPR Machine

Funds from the 2024 MPMGO were userd to purchase a Zoll Autopulse Resuscitation System – an automated CPR machine. This device is going to be a game-changer in our ability to move & transport patients experiencing sudden cardiac arrest, as it can handle chest compressions even while on the move.

CPR on the Move

The Autopulse handles chest compressions to maintain circulation to the brain, and its design allows it to function even while  the patient is being transported up & down stairs or through tight spaces.

Highest Reported Survival Rate

Among the large prospective clinical trials that have been published using an automated CPR device, the AutoPulse has achieved the highest survival rate. Multiple trials have also confirmed that the AutoPulse is superior to manual CPR when it comes to increasing a patient’s odds of achieving return of spontaneous circulation (ROSC).

2023 MPMGO

Pickup Truck

Funds from the 2023 outing purchased a 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD 4WD Crew Cab pickup truck to ensure there would always be a vehicle available to tow the UTV to scene.

2022 MPMGO

UTV Rescue Vehicle

Funds from the 2022 outing were used to purchased a UTV specially equipped for off-road rescues, such as on snowmobile & ATV trails. It has seating for a rescuer on either side of the patient, and a Stokes Basket for easier carrying of patients in uneven terrain. This UTV has also been equipped with tracks for better traction in soft terrain.

2021 MPMGO

Powered Ambulance Cot  & Loading System

Funds from the 2021 MPMGO helped purchase a very important upgrade to our new ambulance – a powered ambulance cot!

The Stryker cot has a battery-powered hydraulic system that raises and lowers the cot at the touch of a button. Combined with the loading system installed in the ambulance, this makes it possible for any member of our EMS team to load and unload a patient with minimal assistance!

2015 & 2016 MPMGO

Zoll Cardiac Monitor

The 2015 & 2016 outings helped fund the purchase of a second 12-lead cardiac monitor for Med 1, identical to the one already on Med 2. The Zoll X-Series is a state-of-the-art cardiac monitor & defibrillator in one. It is capable of performing 4 and 12-lead ECG monitoring, monitoring blood pressures, as well as SPO2 and EtCO2 for monitoring the oxygen levels in your blood.

It also serves as a defibrillator (AED) should the need arise.

2014

Dispatch Repeater

The goal for the 2014 outing was to purchase the Motorola VHF repeater still in use by both Pickerel Fire & Pickerel EMS today!

The next closest repeater is located on Kent Road just outside of Antigo, which is out of range for our ambulance and handheld radios for much of our coverage area.

The “LG Pickerel” repeater is located on the tower on Klapper Rd. in Pickerel. It is integrated with the Langlade County’s 911 Dispatch system, allowing dispatchers to transmit directly from that tower.

2013 MPMGO

Zoll Cardiac Monitor

The goal for the 2013 outing, at the time called the “Crocker Hills Country Club Golf Classic Scramble” in memory of Mike Pomasl, was to purchase a 12-lead cardiac monitor for Med 2.

It also serves as an defibrillator (AED) should the need arise.

A key feature of this device is that it can transmit ECG readings ahead to the receiving hospital so cardiologists can have a head-start on preparing for the incoming patient.
